SpecJoin

Add compatible accessories to your product pages.

Use SpecJoin’s API or CSV files to recommend accessories you stock. Your developer connects the data to your catalogue; your store keeps its prices and checkout. No storefront widget is included.

Example: ThinkPad X250 charger

Lenovo 65W lenovo-slim-tip AC adapter (0A36258)

Lenovo lists this charger for the laptop. Charging speed and performance under heavy use have not been assessed.

  • Use the genuine part number shown and the mains connection for your country. Other spare parts and generic chargers need their own compatibility check.

Connect the data to your stock

  1. Identify the computer and accessory. Use manufacturer, model and exact part number where available. SpecJoin IDs are our identifiers, not your store’s SKUs.
  2. Request a compatibility result. The API returns the product identities, findings, requirements and sources.
  3. Keep products you stock. Map their SpecJoin IDs to your local SKUs. Retain the conditions alongside the recommendation.
// Run on your server. This inventory is fictional.
// Verify the manufacturer and exact part before mapping a SpecJoin ID.
const stock = {
  "lenovo-psu-0a36258": { sku: "SHOP-CHARGER-01", inStock: true }
};

const url = new URL("https://specjoin.com/api/v1/accessories/chargers");
url.search = new URLSearchParams({
  computer_id: "lenovo-thinkpad-x250",
  charger_id: "lenovo-psu-0a36258"
});
const response = await fetch(url);
if (!response.ok) throw new Error(`API request failed: ${response.status}`);
const page = await response.json();

const matches = page.items.flatMap(item => {
  const local = stock[item.charger.id];
  return local?.inStock && ["supported", "conditional"].includes(item.status)
    ? [{ storeSku: local.sku, compatibility: item }]
    : [];
});

// Keep the full findings and their conditions, scope and sources.
console.log({ response: page, matches });

This example uses the public evaluation API. Keep paid API keys on your server, never in storefront JavaScript.

Keep the requirements

Show requirements with every recommendation, including supported results. Recommend a conditional match only when its conditions are met. Do not automatically recommend unknown or unsupported combinations.

If no stocked products match, show no recommendation; other compatible accessories may exist.

Other accessories

Chargers/api/v1/accessories/chargersReplacement fit and charging requirements.

Monitors/api/v1/accessories/monitorsOne directly connected monitor, the checked resolution and possible cable routes.

Docks/api/v1/accessories/docksSeparate screen and charging findings for a computer/dock pair.

Start with computer_id. Omit the accessory filter to list candidates, then follow next_offset until it is null to retrieve every page.

CSV downloads

Import product identities, results and requirements, and maintain your local SKU mapping. Replace a delivery only with the next complete package for the same scope; never use a sample to remove catalogue data.

Other uses

For quotes, equipment kits and support tools, include exact models, required parts, software and unknown findings. Compatibility data cannot diagnose hardware or driver faults.

To start from an accessory, check it against each computer ID in your catalogue, or filter CSV rows by accessory ID and your stocked computers. Keep each pair’s screen and charging findings, conditions and unknowns together.
